Sophie Anderson
Sophie Anderson (born 23 November 1987 in Bristol, England) was a British adult film performer, internet personality, and recording artist who began her career in the industry in 2017 with appearances in studio productions such as Fake Taxi and Evil Angel. In October 2018, she skyrocketed to fame as one half of the viral duo “The Cock Destroyers,” alongside Rebecca More—an over‑the‑top, unapologetically sex‑positive act that resonated deeply with LGBTQ+ communities and turned into internet memes and mainstream pop‑culture references. Beyond her on‑screen work, Sophie was a fierce advocate for queer and trans rights, actively fundraising for HIV/AIDS causes including the Terrence Higgins Trust, and participated in LGBTQ+ sex‑education content, such as a Netflix‑backed project in 2020. She also dealt candidly with personal hardships—from a traumatic childhood and sex work as a teen, to battling substance misuse, eating disorders, and a serious health scare in 2022 when a breast implant became infected and ruptured, leading to sepsis. Sophie extended her influence beyond porn, releasing a single (“Driving for Dick”) in 2019, hosting the reality series Slag Wars: The Next Destroyer in 2020, and appearing as a captain on the Canadian OutTV quiz Fucking Smart in 2022. Tragically, on 30 November 2023, just eleven days after the death of her partner Oliver Spedding, she passed away at age 36 from an overdose, later ruled a suicide. Her friend Rebecca More described her as “a bubbly, funny, kind‑hearted soul who was outrageous on the outside but also so gentle behind closed doors”. Sophie leaves behind a powerful legacy in sex‑positivity, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and resilience through trauma, remembered as so much more than an internet persona.
